Well we finally did it. The site is officially public. Wenxing and I have been working on this for just over 2 months now. We started this not knowing anything about running our own business, and it has been a journey! We are happy that it is all paying off.
So who are we? Wenxing and I (Justin) are a husband and wife team with a (newly discovered) passion for tea. We are both software engineers, having met in college. We have lived in Houston Texas for 7 and a half years now, moving down right BEFORE hurricane Harvey (that was a fun welcome to Texas!). Our deep passion for tea was only recently discovered, even though we both have been exposed to loose leaf tea pretty much our whole lives. Wenxing's parents are very passionate about tea, having made it every day as she grew up. As for me, my Bà ngoại (Vietnamese for grandma [You never would guess it looking at me but I am actually 1/4 Vietnamese]) always made jasmine tea when I was growing up. She always made it so well, and I still have vivid (and embarrassingly bad) memories of the first time I tried making loose leaf tea and gave it to her. I had no idea how to make it (I was 13 or 14 years old) and just threw a handful (way to much) of tea into a pot of boiling water and let it boil for a good 20 minutes (way to long, defiantly don't do this). Bà ngoại drank a little to be nice, but I still remember trying it and it was some bad tea! Anyway, back to our recent discovery, it was in a very large part thanks to a YouTube Short's channel called JessesTeaHouse. His shorts were so informative and entertaining and made loose leaf tea look so good we had to try it for ourselves now that we are grown adults. And basically that was the butterfly effect, the small thing that set us down this path. To paraphrase everything that happened after, we ended up finding a couple tea stores in Houston, trying many different tea, spent way to much money on tones of tea (really our tea backlog in years long now probably), developed friendships with the tea store owners and then becoming a mentee of one of the tea store owners. We are very excited to see where this new adventure takes us. Lofty goals, but I personally would love to have just a small percentage of the journey that Jesse has had with his tea store, mostly the part where I could travel to China to visit real tea farms to sample teas that I would eventually sell, that would be the dream. Anyway though, to close out this blog post, hopefully anyone that stumbles upon this gets a little laugh, maybe checks back in every now and again, and possibly tries some of our tea!

AuthorJustin will probably write most of the blog posts. To be honest 40% of the idea for this site was just to have a tea blog to write about all our tea adventures. External Link Notice
